Guttering is the cult-favorite collaborative EP from MJ Lenderman and Wednesday—six raw, self-recorded tracks that capture the early chemistry between two artists who’ve since helped redefine Southern indie rock.
Originally released on cassette via Julia’s War Recordings (run by Douglas Dulgarian of TAGABOW), the EP blends MJ Lenderman’s twangy fuzz and alt-country instincts with Wednesday’s dreamy, distortion-laced textures. It’s all sighing harmonies, hazy power chords, and Southern-tinged emotional grit.
MJ Lenderman, known for his solo work (Boat Songs, Manning Fireworks) and as guitarist for Wednesday, brings a rough-hewn, emotionally sharp energy. Wednesday, led by Karly Hartzman, rose from Asheville’s DIY scene to national acclaim with 2023’s Rat Saw God.
