From Her to Eternity feels like a room with the lights turned off and the volume turned up, tense, unhinged, and impossible to ignore.

Released in 1984, this debut introduced Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds as something raw and confrontational, built on obsession, violence, and emotional extremity rather than refinement. The album pulls heavily from post-punk, blues, and noise, but it resists settling into any one form. Everything feels volatile, as if the songs could collapse or explode at any moment.

Piano figures clang and repeat, guitars scrape and churn, and the rhythm section moves with a nervous, unstable force. Cave’s vocals are feral and theatrical, shifting between menace and fixation, often sounding as if they are being dragged out of him rather than performed. There is very little distance between impulse and execution here.

This edition is a remastered reissue on 180 gram vinyl, with the vinyl transfer approval overseen by Mick Harvey in the summer of 2014 and cut at Abbey Road Studios. The remaster brings added clarity and weight while preserving the album’s abrasive, confrontational character.

From Her to Eternity is not an easy listen, and it is not meant to be. It captures the Bad Seeds at their most exposed and dangerous, laying the groundwork for everything that followed without softening a single edge.
