Mask Appeal sprung unexpectedly to life in the summer of 2024, when a spontaneous jam session instantly birthed a fully formed band that effortlessly channeled the flavors of The Strangles, Contortions, PIL, Birthday Party, and Bow Wow Wow. The chthonic eruption of Mike Shelbourn’s jungle drums and slithery snarl of Dan Granziano’s bass proved to be natural soulmates with Dante White Aliano’s tortured guitar mutations and crooning tales of undying devotion to the unattainable. From that first encounter, the incendiary amalgam vertiginously channeled fully formed tunes from the void itself that culminated into this 5 song EP, suitably adorned with the hand painted art of their fairy god-sister, Gitane Demone.

Bass forward, dark, groovy, ethereal and eerie—any goth club worth its salt will be spinning this record. At journey’s begin, a jaunting screech cry beckons us to embark into the ghastly yet elegant chaos of the next 16 minutes.Wailing caterwauls, crashing drums, twanging, twisting, gasping guitar, and delicious, unforgettable basslines usher us forward.
