Gurriers - Nobody's Coming To Save You

The world might be falling apart, but Gurriers aren't interested in going quietly. Nobody's Coming To Save You is the sound of a band turning frustration, anxiety, and disillusionment into something loud enough to shake the walls.

Released in September 2026 on Play It Again Sam, Nobody's Coming To Save You is the second full-length from Dublin's Gurriers, following their acclaimed 2024 debut Come and See. That first record established the five-piece as one of the most exciting new voices in Ireland's increasingly vital post-punk scene. This time around, they've expanded their ambitions considerably, trading some of their debut's claustrophobic tension for a bigger, more muscular sound without sacrificing the volatility that made them so compelling.

Working with producers Mark Bowen of IDLES and Loren Humphrey, the band pushes its collision of post-punk, noise rock, alternative rock, and dance-punk into increasingly unpredictable territory. Jagged guitars, pounding rhythms, and Dan Hoff's confrontational vocals remain central, but there's a newfound willingness to explore melody, atmosphere, and dynamics beyond the usual post-punk playbook.

The title track opens with a sinister swagger, while "Party Lines" channels political frustration into a relentless dance-punk assault. "Pins" takes a different approach, introducing a loose, almost Britpop-inspired melodic sensibility beneath its bruising rhythms. Elsewhere, "Nothing Happens Twice" delivers the kind of explosive, shout-along chorus built for packed venues, while the sprawling "Drones" demonstrates the band's growing interest in more expansive arrangements.

Lyrically, Nobody's Coming To Save You confronts the unease of contemporary life, from political division and social disconnection to the overwhelming sense that the systems surrounding us are becoming increasingly unstable. Yet the album's title isn't entirely pessimistic. There's an underlying call for collective action and personal responsibility, suggesting that change begins when people stop waiting for someone else to provide it.

Recorded between Attica Studios in Donegal and Holy Mountain Studios in London, with mixing by John Congleton, the album balances the raw physicality of Gurriers' live performances with a more ambitious sonic palette.

Nobody's Coming To Save You is a significant step forward for Gurriers: fierce, politically charged, melodically adventurous, and overflowing with nervous energy. It's modern post-punk stretching beyond its familiar boundaries, delivered by a band with considerably more to say.
