Decades after their original post-punk run, 1919 returned sounding as tense and uncompromising as ever. Bloodline proves the fire never really left.
Released in 2017, the album continues the band’s lineage of brooding, politically charged post-punk first forged in early 80s Bradford. Rather than leaning on nostalgia, Bloodline carries forward that same urgency, pairing dark atmosphere with direct, confrontational songwriting.
Basslines drive the songs with heavy momentum, guitars slash and shimmer in equal measure, and the rhythms push forward with steady intensity. The production feels modern but disciplined, allowing the band’s raw edge to remain intact. Vocals deliver their message with conviction, reinforcing the album’s sense of unrest and defiance.
