The Sky’s Gone Out is Bauhaus at their most unhinged and ambitious—a gothic fever dream that warps post-punk into something fractured, theatrical, and otherworldly. Released in 1982, it’s an album where glam riffs dissolve into dub experiments, drones, and deconstructed ballads.
Peter Murphy howls like a prophet lost in fog, while Daniel Ash’s guitars split the difference between noise and elegance. From the vicious stomp of “Third Uncle” (a Brian Eno cover in name only) to the eerie hush of “All We Ever Wanted Was Everything,” this is the sound of a band pushing goth into chaos and elegance simultaneously.
