Before EBM had a name, Geography was already writing the rulebook.

Originally released in 1982, Front 242's debut album laid the foundation for an entire movement. Stripping electronic music down to rhythm, repetition, and precision, the band created a sound that was colder, harder, and more physical than much of what surrounded it. Decades later, its influence can still be heard across industrial, techno, electro, and darkwave.

The tracks are lean and purposeful. Drum machines strike with mechanical discipline, synthesizers pulse in stark patterns, and every element serves the rhythm. There is little excess here. The power comes from repetition, tension, and an unwavering sense of momentum. Even in these early recordings, Front 242 sound remarkably self-assured, already pointing toward the future of electronic body music.

This original U.S. Wax Trax! pressing is a particularly desirable piece for industrial and EBM collectors. Wax Trax! played a pivotal role in bringing Front 242 to North American audiences, helping establish the label as one of the most important gateways for industrial music in the United States. Many collectors consider these early Wax Trax! editions among the most satisfying ways to experience the album, with a powerful, dynamic sound that perfectly complements the record's mechanical intensity.

For fans of industrial and electronic music history, Geography isn't simply an influential album. It's one of the cornerstones upon which an entire genre was built.

How we grade vinyl

All used vinyl are fully tested to ensure accuracy. We follow the Goldmine standard and grade conservatively.

Here’s how we rate:

  • Mint (M): Perfect, sealed, or unplayed.
  • Near Mint (NM): Looks and plays like new with minimal signs of handling.
  • Very Good+ (VG+): A few light cosmetic marks or faint surface noise.
  • Very Good (VG): Noticeable wear and some background noise, but no skips or major flaws.
  • Good (G): Heavier wear and noise, but still listenable.
  • Fair (F): Heavily worn or noisy—priced accordingly and sold as-is.
