NNHMN - Circle Of Doom

NNHMN make electronic music for the hour when the club stops feeling like a party. Circle Of Doom is cold, sensual, and hypnotic, built from pounding machines and the feeling that something is lurking just beyond the strobes.

Released in 2023, Circle Of Doom is a defining full-length from the Berlin-based duo of Lee Margot and Michal Laudarg. Across eight tracks, NNHMN draw from darkwave, EBM, minimal synth, techno, and dark electronic music, combining the austerity of classic wave with the physical impact of contemporary underground club production.

The title track establishes the record’s atmosphere immediately. Sequenced bass and rigid percussion provide the machinery while Margot’s detached, commanding vocals hover above it, creating a tension that runs throughout the album. “Soldier of Beauty” is darker and more seductive, while “Hungrige Liebe” pushes the duo’s sound toward a particularly effective meeting point between gothic atmosphere and the dance floor.

Tracks like “Gloomy Heart,” “NRL,” and “Tiger” demonstrate how effectively NNHMN work with repetition. Synth patterns evolve gradually, percussion hits with deliberate precision, and vocals become another texture within the arrangements rather than simply sitting on top of them. The approach owes something to the lineage of European minimal wave and EBM, but the production is unmistakably modern, with low-end and rhythmic weight designed for contemporary club systems.
